Fans have been waiting for a big update to the latest skate title from Activision. When "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" was released earlier this year, fans and observers alike were quick to notice how the game did not meet their expectations. The reviews ranged from describing the debut as "glitch-ridden and seemingly unfinished," which was still an understatement compared to other observers urging fans to avoid the title at all cost.

Developer Robomodo indeed noticed the negative feedback their latest title got and issued a major patch update. According to Eurogamer, while the patch notes did not mention any fixes for "glitches and bugs," they mentioned that the gameplay mechanics have been overhauled and that the new version after the update was installed will introduce both new and updated features. These features include newer grinds, updated levels, and character campaigns. It also seems that system design has been also overhauled as the patch notes indicate that there are "updates" to lighting, visuals, and character textures.

The Games Cabin managed to publish the patch notes, noting the changes that the update brought and introduced. The new patch, bringing the new version to 1.03, is considered to be a major update. Coming in as a massive 7.8-GB patch, the update rolled out to both the Xbox One and PS4 versions introduced new and updated mechanics to content, gameplay, user interface, even to the networking features of the game.

Pitchfork mentioned that one of the noted additions to the game after the new update was the new character. Tyler, the Creator, is now a playable character in the game. There is also a new character campaign based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Meanwhile, there were also character cards added for Riley Kim, in support of Team Riley.
