Top Gear season 22 cancelled: Jeremy Clarkson leaving BBC? Petition beings to 'Bring Back Clarkson'

Has BBC pulled the plug on Top Gear? After a celebrated fracas which involved controversial host Jeremy Clarkson, the network cancelled the 22nd season as well as the remaining episodes to one of its most watched programs.

Prior to the sudden scrapping, Jeremy Clarkson had been meted a suspension after getting into a fracas with producer Oisin Tymon. Clarkson allegedly threw a punch at Tymon when the latter told the presenter that there was no hot food available after a day of filming on a set.

Clarkson has had his unfortunate run-ins with the network before though the current mess seems to be a pretty serious one. Just last year, Clarkson got himself in hot water after using racially insensitive remarks.

Regardless of the countless issues, Clarkson and BBC have been able to mend ties. But according to RadioTimes.com, a source close to Clarkson bared that the working relationship between Clarkson and BBC is now beyond repair. And should he be cleared, the same source says that Clarkson could very well be leaving BBC.

As this was developing, a petition for Clarkson's return has reportedly received over 400,000 signatures. The petition is titled "Bring Back Clarkson".

With regards to the cancellation of season 22, it seems unclear as of the moment on what future the show has with the company. Would Top Gear still come back for another season despite rumors of Clarkson's planned exit?

At the moment things seem to be in the balance and a definitive answer could be arrived at once light is shed on the current investigation involving Clarkson and Tymon.
