Total War: Warhammer DLC free in the first week

Creative Assembly

After a huge amount of backlash from players, "Total War: Warhammer" has made its first DLC, the "Chaos Warriors Race Pack" free for the first week of its release. Originally, this race pack was offered as a pre-order bonus, but the overwhelming negative comments about this strategy, especially in the forums and the amount of dislikes--around 50,000--in its official video in YouTube, led to this decision.

In their official statement, Creative Director Mike Simpson said, "By extending the deadline for getting them for free by a week, we can ensure loyal fans who don't feel like pre-ordering don't miss out, while still rewarding early adopters whose support is really valuable to us."

One of the primary reasons for this unexpected backlash is that the Chaos Warriors have gained so much popularity amongst fans, and a lot share the sentiment that, in the Warhammer Universe, the faction representing "Chaos" is one of the most iconic aspects of the game.

Furthermore, Simpson also said that, "We're really confident in the game and with the community backing us so strongly this should be the biggest launch for Total War ever." despite the sheer amount of negativity from the disgruntled players.

With this, the retailers that offer the "Chaos Warriors DLC Race Pack" as a pre-order bonus will also give it for free within the first week of the game's release. It means that, once the game goes live on May 24, the free period will end by May 31, 2016 at around 18:00 PDT.

"Total War: Warhammer" is expected to have hundreds of hours' worth of gameplay, and is the first ever "Total War" game fully set in a fantasy world. With this, a lot of peole are anticipating what it could offer--even more so that this game is only the first of the massively immersive trilogy planned by both Creative Assembly and Sega.
