"Total War: Warhammer" has proven to be a massive hit for Creative Assembly, and the developers have continued to release new content, free and paid alike, through the months since the game launch. A brand new DLC, "Realm of the Wood Elves," is arriving this early December.

As per a report from Eurogamer, the DLC will add the Wood Elf faction to the game. However, they are treated as glass cannons due to their fragile nature but high firepower.

The main addition is the wood elf archer group. These archers have multiple abilities such as being able to fire arrows even while moving, remain in stealth while attacking, fire in all 360 directions and to imbue their attacks with poison or to hit multiple targets simultaneously. Unfortunately, for all their power they are quick to die.

Wood Elves also use a brand new resource known as Amber. Amber is required to grow the Oak of Ages, a magical tree that triggers special events and is needed to win the campaign. Amber can also be used for research and in raising the power ability of the elven units.

Amber will also be needed for summoning one of the two new Legendary Lords, known as Orion and Durthu. Orion is a wood elf demigod and summoning him will grant the player access to all of the elven units. Durthu is a member of the tree folk and using him will instead unlock fellow tree folk units to use.

In order to summon a unit not associated with the chosen Legendary Lord will require Amber, creating a unique risk-and-reward situation for players.

Rock Paper Shotgun also reports that the elves are the only faction capable of conquering any settlement they come across, regardless of that land's faction. However, the type of constructs they can then build on that land are limited.

"Realm of the Wood Elves" DLC will launch on Dec. 8.
