Total War: Warhammer release date, gameplay news: developer releases new gameplay video for Chaos Warriors faction

Creative Assembly

With the newest "Total War" title due to release on May 24, 2016, the developer of "Total War: Warhammer" has released a new gameplay video, which featured the Chaos Warriors facing off against the Dwarves.

In the video, it shows the enormity of the scope of battle, which highlights the epic proportions of the struggle between two opposing factions. Throughout the entirety of the battle, various tactics and strategies were employed, and the player controlling the Chaos Warriors had initial disadvantage due to the fact that the battle on High Pass--frozen and snowy-- made it hard for foot infantry to advance.

They also suffered from minor losses because of the constant cannon barrage from the dwarves, but their cavalry of Chaos Knights made use of the terrain to their advantage, flanking them as the battle was joined. Also, the sheer size of its commander, Kholek Suneater, along with his vanguard of Dragon Ogres, smashed through the Dwarves' lines.

Graphics-wise, the game was stunning, and the detail stayed consistent regardless of whether the player zoomed in or out. Furthermore, the game has its cinematic and gameplay perspective, which can be easily switched, giving players a better view of the battle.

As for its gameplay, it still features the usual "Total War" elements such as controlling entire platoons of units instead of individual ones, as well as the formation and troop morale features. The latter has a huge impact on the game, and near the end of the video it showed that the Dwarves' commander, High King Thorgrim was slain, instantly routing their remaining forces, allowing the Chaos Warriors to claim victory.

The Chaos Warriors DLC pack for "Total War: Warhammer" was supposed to be a pre-order bonus for players, but after a huge controversy it sparked online, it's now available for free during the first week of its release.
