'Toy Story 4' plot: Sequel will not pick off from previous films

For the many fans of Toy Story, many may have probably heard that a Toy Story 4 is set to come out in 2017. Though many had thought that Andy's turnover of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang were the last we have seen of them, apparently such is not the case.

However, the fourth installment may carry something different as far as the story is concerned. It will not pick off from Toy Story 3 but rather carry a romantic-comedy angle which could be interesting.

According to Jim Morris, Pixar studio president, the next installment will see more interaction between the toys rather than the other characters getting involved. To sum it all up, it will be a totally different story which may not necessarily be tied up to the first three Toy Story films.

Hence, the next movie will part from the Andy and Woody angle which should get a lot of people guessing. Who among the toys left could be tied up to the romance angle? Buzz and Jessie? Woody and another new toy character?

Woody had some romantic hookup with Bo Peep in the first Toy Story though she was not around in Toy Story 3.

What should be interesting to note is that while the fourth installment will be totally different, it wasn't mentioned on whether it would be a reboot or a totally new chapter with the toys donated to another character for playing.

Whatever the actual plot may be should be known in the coming months (or years) but one thing is for sure, Morris says that it was too good of an idea to pass up.

And all of it could depend on what the writers come up with.

Tasked to write about Toy Story 4 are John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Lee Unkrich, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Galyn Susman will be the producer.

Toy Story 4 is set to hit cinemas in June 16, 2017.
