The Toyota Prius 2016 is a fourth generation car under the eco-friendly Prius line. It is expected to be shown to the public for the first time in November at the 2015 Los Angeles Car Show.

Although the Prius has been around for a long time, Toyota now faces a tougher competition in the all-electric and hybrid niche, thanks to the entry of Tesla and Chevrolet into the market previously dominated by the Prius since early 2000. The Toyota Prius 2016 must look nice and modern if it wants to stay current with the design trends of eco-friendly cars.

One of the key descriptions of the upcoming 2016 model is its deceiving lines. Toyota reportedly hoped to create an impression that their new tadpole-shaped green car is a sporty sedan. But the rear-window wiper will probably betray its hatchback identity. In many ways, it looks like the Mirai, the fuel-cell car of Toyota. And although the photo leaks of the new Prius show an intake attachment, information obtained by Car and Driver says that the 2016 model will only have a small slit under the front Toyota logo.

It will have a lithium-ion battery for its plug-in model although a report by Automotive News says that Prius base models will carry on a nickel metal hydride battery. The Prius Hybrid variant will have an electric motor and a four-cylinder engine that will produce around 150 HP. The engine will be coupled with a continuously variable transmission. 

The regular model 2016 Toyota Prius can go 60 MPG for city driving and the plug-in model can go for up to 30 miles on a single charge. 

The new Toyota Prius is expected to sell for around $25,000.
