After the breakout hit South Korean zombie movie "Train to Busan" broke records in Korea and won the hearts of film-goers the world over, a sequel is already in the works.

Actor Gong Yoo — who top-billed the movie — excitedly shared his vision for the sequel even though his character has already died in the first installment.

"I talked about this with Director Yeon Sang Ho, and I said that I thought my character Seok Woo might be living somewhere as a zombie. But Director Yeon said that when Seok Woo fell off the train, he broke his neck and died. But I suppose since Ma Dong Seok's character is living on as a zombie, they could do a sequel from his character's perspective," Yoo said in an interview.

While it seems unlikely that he will be returning to the franchise unless they focus on the development of a live-action prequel, it was also Gong Yoo who confirmed that there will be a sequel to the film.

"And there will be a sequel of Train to Busan. For you all," he confirmed in a tweet.

Aside from receiving positive reviews from critics, the film also received a standing ovation during its noncompetition screening at the 2016 Cannes Festival, earning praise for its exceptional execution.

While it looks like "Train to Busan 2" will take a page from "Warm Bodies," France is reportedly eyeing a production of their own version of the hit franchise and the Americans are trying to get a piece of the action too.

"Although no deal has yet been decided or signed, we're in talks with major studios and indie production houses in Hollywood and France that are highly interested in remaking the film," a source told Variety.

Among the studios who reportedly want to produce an adaptation are Fox, Sony, Gaumont, Canal Plus, and EuropaCorp. 

The film has so far earned $61 million in 12 days in Korea alone and continues to perform impressively in North America.
