It was previously reported that it was announced there would be four sequels to follow "Transformers: Age of Extinction," with "Transformers 5" expected to begin production next year. This decision has ultimately led Hasbro to create a unified universe, called the "Prime Wars Trilogy" for "Transformers" across other medium.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the "Prime Wars Trilogy" will create a framework for the franchise's story across multiple medium, which will include licensed video games, comic books, and the "Transformers" toy line. It was not stated that the films will be affected although elements from the "Prime Wars" will become evident in the movie adaptations.

It is also likely that the films will affect "Prime Wars Trilogy" in some manner in order to maintain a sense of cohesiveness across the board.

Large Transformers, such as Sentinel Prime and robots that transform into the heads of even larger Transformers will make an appearance. Two new female Transformers who were recently introduced, Victorion and Windblade, will be highlighted across the unified "Transformers" universe.

"Transformers 5" itself is building its own unified universe as it is reportedly going to feature Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager on Earth with the Dinobots while Optimus Prime battles the Quintessons and Unicron in outer space. The animated feature film, a prequel taking place in Cybertron, will tell the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron.

The "Transformers" lineup for "Transformers 5" has not yet been revealed, but given that Hasbro is behind the cinematic universe and the "Prime Wars Trilogy" that will affect all other medium, it is likely that "Transformers 5" to "Transformers 8" will include characters from "Prime Wars Trilogy" such as the aforementioned Windblade and Victorion.

Mark Wahlberg has not yet officially confirmed he is returning for the film and Michael Bay has tweeted that he is still discussing the possibility of coming back to direct. If Bay does not return, then there is a possibility that Wahlberg's character could be written out of the story and be replaced by someone who will represent the franchise until "Transformes 8," which is expected to come out in 2025.
