'Transformers 5' updates: Cast, director and plotline remain unannounced

"Transformers 5" is in the pipeline but what it's going to be made of or what it will be about remains unknown. There were some bits of news about the characters and the people behind it though. It is sure that Michael Bay is leaving. So is Mark Wahlberg. But that is the closest fans have gotten to.

Rumors of Megan Fox's return continue to soar, as the actress expressed her interest in coming back. Shia LaBeouf might even tag along, but all these niceties remain unconfirmed and unattained at the moment. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" director Jonathan Liebesman may be the one to helm the movie, according to Crossmap. Aside from that, no news or confirmation regarding the actors and the director has ever emerged. Fans are also trying to put their fingers on the plotline, which has so far resulted to a mishmash of wishful and logical thinking.

The upcoming installment of the robot action-thriller franchise is said to introduce a whole new gang of mechanoids, both on the Autobots' side and on the Decepticons' corner. Optimus Prime is rumored to add Red Alert, Override, and Ultra Magnus to his team.  IB Times reports that Optimus Prime and his journey to see his creators to find light surrounding the events in "Transformers: Age of Extinction" will take a while.  This will prompt Ultra Magnus to take on what the pin-up robot has left behind. However, their adversary will be meaner, too, as Galvatron's team will allegedly add Scourge, Blitzwing, and Cyclonus.

Rumor mills point to the inclusion of Optimus Prime's twin mechanoid Rodimus Prime as well. Vector Prime and Unicron are said to be there, too. Fans also believe that Maximals and Predacons will battle and brawl in the "Transformers" cosmos. To top it all off, Quintessons might wage war and wreak havoc in the movie.

These speculations remain as they are. But what Paramount Pictures assures though, is that the mammoth mechanoids of "Transformers 5" will hit the silver screen in 2016.
