'Transformers' spin-off movie in the works?

The "Transformers" universe is a colossal one and Paramount Pictures plans on exploring every bit of it with various spin-offs and sequels. The company has organized a group of writers and producers to do the job and, just recently, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who lent their writing talents on the movie "Ant-Man," hopped on board.

This very league of writers headed by writer-producer Akiva Goldsman is said to be working on a new "Transformers" prequel that is set in Cybertron. The film goes by the working title "Transformers One" and will serve as an origin story. However, rather than live-action, this film will likely be animated.

Meanwhile, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner hinted at the possibility of a spin-off film with Bumblebee at the helm. This is part of the plan to expand the "Transformers" world to something comparable to Marvel's.

"As we go forward, we would imagine several more Transformers Movies. Not just in the current lineage but also spinoffs and focusing on certain key characters that are beloved by the world over," Goldner said during the Global Consumer Conference. "Many of you know Bumblebee, the yellow Camaro formally known as a yellow VW Bug. He is a beloved character by kids all over the world. We could see stories told around Bumblebee and other characters."

If a "Transformers" movie centered on the fan-favorite character is indeed on the horizon, then this means that the lovable mechanoid may finally be seen talking or communicating with sentences rather than excerpts or phrases as he was portrayed in director Michael Bay's "Transformers" movies.

"We are in a process of building the brand equity around the comic book business, our TV business, our digital gaming business and adding to that our new movie business of Transformers," Chandler said, laying out the company's future plans.
