"True Detective" season 1 was unforgiving. It was relentless and it proved to be one of the best TV series that HBO has created. The show dwelt on the "satanic detective genre," as Den of Geek would describe it. And this kind of horror is something that fans want more of.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto is giving fans what they want. However, season 2 will be an all-new story with an all-new cast. Even season 1's sole director Cary Fukunaga will only return as an executive producer this time around. Pizzolatto is also getting different directors for the different episodes.

There's really not much info about the show right now, but fans may have something to hold on to until summer because last year, The Wrap released a leaked synopsis for season 2. It goes:

"The second season of True Detective will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt city manager of a fictional California city who's found brutally murdered amid a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change freeway gridlock in the state. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought. Caspar's 52-year-old corpse is found on a lonely stretch of Pacific Coast Highway near Big Sur — satanic symbols etched on his chest. It turns out he had a penchant for rough sex and may have been involved in the occult."

Some of the information from this leaked synopsis hold true to what Pizzolatto shared about season 2. He said that there will be "hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system."

As for the cast, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch will play the three law enforcement officers, while Vince Vaughn will play a career criminal who also happens to be the suspect in the murder. Kelly Reilly and Agemo Omilami are also included in the cast.

Meanwhile, True Detective Rumors have uploaded photos of the cast on set. It shows Vaughn, Kitsch and the crew having fun and hard at work to finish the second season.

"True Detective" season 2 is believed to be hitting the small screens this summer, just after the finale of "Game of Thrones" which was the same case last year. This could also mean that the trailer might come out soon, too.
