It is highly likely that C.S. Lee of "Dexter" will be part of the season 2 cast of "True Detective." He used to play Masuka, Dexter's lab-rat partner. But now, he will play a state attorney general in the latest season of HBO's hit TV series. 

Following the massive hit of "True Detective" season 1 led by actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, season 2 will have a different set of stars. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, season 2 is about three cops and a criminal who will have to unravel a murder tangled in a conspiracy. Lee will be playing a smooth and polished attorney general. He is intelligent and well-spoken and holds true to his moral compass. 

As for the other confirmed castings, Colin Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, one of the three police officers. The character is actually torn between the mobster that owns him and the corrupt police in the department. 

Rachel McAdams will play the other police officer Ani Bezzerides. She is a Venture County Sheriff office detective and her unyielding ethics is what separates her from others and the system. 

Vince Vaughn will play the criminal Frank Semyon. Frank's business partner has been murdered and this impedes his move to make his illegal business into a legitimate enterprise. His wife Jordan, played by Kelly Reilley, is a D-list actress and is his partner in his enterprise. 

Taylor Kitsch is set to play Paul Woodrugh. Paul is a war veteran and a CHP motorcycle officer. He has an ugly past and he is trying to run away from it. 

Showrunner Nic Pizzolatto wrote season 2, which will have multiple directors. Pizzolatto was deeply involved in picking the cast and also explained that having multiple directors will hasten the pace of production. The second season will have eight episodes and is currently in production in California.
