"True Detective" season 1 was a big success for HBO, thus season 2 was inevitable. However, actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson won't be back for the new season. Show writer Nic Pizzolatto has written a totally different story and it involves new characters.

Vince Vaughn is one of the main actors in the second season. He plays a career criminal who wants to change in life. However, a recent murder in the city pulls him back as he becomes a suspect of the crime.

In a recent interview with Playboy, Vaughn was able to talk about the pressure of going into season 2 and how he was able to land the job in the first place.

The actor-comedian said that he met with Pizzolatto when he was working on the movie "The Rockford Files." But at that time, the show creator was busy writing "True Detective" season 2 and had to focus on the HBO series. Later, he called Vaughn to play one of the characters to which he enthusiastically obliged.

When asked if he feels any pressure for the new season, Vaughn replied in the negative.

"Because Nic Pizzolatto is such a great writer, and so much of this is driven by his stories," Vaughn explained. "I thought Woody and Matthew did an exceptional job with the first season. This one's very different, though. It's a totally different story, with its own characters. The thing that's consistent is the richness of the characters and the quality of the material."

He also talked about his character and why he likes it, saying, "I really like my character. Nic is so great about investigating characters and their complexities in an authentic and engaging way. I want to watch this show not because I'm in it, but as a fan of the material."

This is the first interview that a cast of "True Detective" season 2 had. The other cast members may follow suit soon. In the meantime, fans can take a look at some photos from the set. They show Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch in an intense action sequence.
