For many Twitter users, a cause for alarm occurred Monday when the social media site malfunctioned for reasons unknown. Apparently Twitter users were unable to tweet or perform the usual functions, something which Twitter acknowledged.

The Twitter team admitted that they were experiencing technical issues and that their engineers are addressing and working on it at that time. This was announced at about 9 p.m. (ET) last Monday. People were unable to tweet, retweet or favorite other users between 7:51 and 9:30 p.m. ET.

Many users witnessed the unscheduled outage which thankfully was later on resolved. Twitter made the announcement via its Twitter Support account.

With millions of users using Twitter, the social media site allows users to tweet up to 140-character messages. For about 25 to 45 minutes Monday, many were unable to so. Aside from actual interface, the outage also affected related Twitter third party clients.

Twitter did not mention the real cause for the outage. What is important for now is that everything is back to normal and people can enjoy the usual daily usage of Twitter, follow and retweet the stuff that others share as well as interesting stories too.
