UFC 192 preview, news: Daniel Cormier still wants rematch against Jones

For any competitor, evening things up will always be in mind. And it seems that this is what is going on in Daniel Cormier's mind.

Back in UFC 182 held last January, Jones successfully defended his UFC light heavyweight title against Cormier. It was the first loss of his pro career but it seems that the beef between goes beyond the Octagon.

Jones has since been stripped of the title after being involved in a hit-and-run felony charge. Jones was also meted a suspension and his return as of this writing remains unknown.

With the championship vacant, Cormier would face Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 last May and become the undisputed champion. He will make his first title defense against Alexander Gustaffson at UFC 192 on Oct. 3 in Houston, a match he seems to be pretty confident of pulling through. Regardless, it would be wise not to take the Swede lightly.

Assuming he does successfully defend his belt, the obvious is that Cormier wants another shot at Jones. That will remain and perhaps always be in the air for now as 'Bones' status would depend on the legal proceedings on the charges he is currently facing.

"Obviously, I need [Jones]," Cormier said via MMAfighting.com. "As I move forward, in this fight in October and I face Alexander [Gustafsson], I need that guy. I need that guy to get back in here and fight me again. For my journey to be complete and for me to be complete as I finish this sport, I need him. And honestly, I wish him all the best so that he can actually get back and I can stop playing around with these guys and get back to business," he added.

From the looks of it, Cormier is looking for payback. Has it become personal? Being the competitor he is, it is obvious that Cormier wants to even the score with Jones. The problem is all that could take some time before the rematch finally takes place.
