UFC 197 rumors: Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate, Conor McGregor vs. Rafael dos Anjos happening this March

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm are two of the biggest names in the UFC these days and apparently the two are getting what they were batting for in recent months.

Both will be in main event matches for UFC 197, which will take place in Las Vegas this coming March. The venue for the said fight has yet to be confirmed, as reported by the Bleacher Report.

McGregor will try to make history and become a two-division UFC champion when he faces Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title.

UFC president Dana White believed that if there was anyone who could possibly hoist up two division titles, it was the Irishman. To date, McGregor has done the improbable and he doesn't even have to vacate the featherweight title to do it.

"The Notorious" has been deemed an exemption to the usual rule of requiring fighters to vacate their title when they move to another division, something that would become a first in the UFC.

He remains the featherweight champion where Frankie Edgar looms as the top contender unless something dramatic (like Edgar fighting someone else and loses) happens.

On the other end, White finally realized that keeping Holm in cold storage was a bad idea. The Australian fighter had long been batting to have a fight before UFC 200 since a six-month layoff was something that could be critical for her to stay in shape.

Holm got the opponent that she had long mentioned, Miesha Tate. While the tiff is not expected to generate much trash talk, which is usually the case in UFC matches, it promises to be interesting one.

One thing that both Holm and Tate share is that they are two fighters who were able to last more than one round against Ronda Rousey.
