UK Christians to Enter 10 Day 24/7 Prayer Week In May

Christians across Great Britain will soon celebrate Prayer Week – a yearly event that takes place across Britain – from May 6 for ten days. The event which first originated from Colwyn Bay, Wales, is now spreading across the world. Ten days of day-and-night prayer will lead up to the Global Day of Prayer on May 15.

According to the organisers of the event, the goal is to establish a 10-day event that will see 24/7 prayer watches in every nation and raise a ‘canopy’ of prayer over the globe. They are focusing on continual prayer for spiritual and social revolution of the churches, communities and all the countries of the world.

The United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) radio station, UCB Europe will be broadcasting the 10-day event live and will provide extensive and full coverage, 24 hours a day with the focus set on prayer.

Studio guests praying for various prayer topics will join the presenters live. A variety of subjects, from the persecuted church to youth work in local communities, will be the focus for special programs focusing on issues for prayer.

"In recent years we’ve covered prayer week, but as a bystander," said Broadcasting Manager for Radio, Andrew Urguhart. "This year we were challenged that we shouldn’t just be reporting what was going on, we should be part of what was happening."

Leaders and workers of many Christian organisations will be invited to join with listeners in prayer for issues close to their hearts. The political scene will be in the thoughts and prayers of many after the general election campaign in Britain and the current issues of the day will be updated regularly.

"UCB will be praying with you, for you and about issues that affect you, as well as reporting on what’s happening around the world," continued Urguhart "All our programming on UCB Europe will be live, with guests, programs and regular news updates. We also have UCB staff reporting back, not just in the UK but in other continents as well. We want to join with Prayer Week, not just to report on what will be a fantastic time of prayer and fellowship, but to change our nation."

UCB will begin broadcasting at 6am on 6th May with the Steve Best Breakfast Show on UCB Europe. Listeners can tune into UCB Europe on Satellite & Cable channel 875 or go to the UCB website at www.ucb.co.uk.
