The fifth installment of the highly successful "Underworld" film franchise is due for release before the end of the year. Titled "Underworld: Blood Wars," it will once again feature Kate Beckinsale playing the lead role of Selene, and obviously, another horde of vampires and Lycans trying to kill and devour each other in the hope of gaining supremacy in the underworld.

Set in the same world as the previous films, "Underworld: Blood Wars" tells the story of death dealer Selene as she struggles to find a way to defeat the Lycans, and this time, she will have a lot on her plate due to her plan of exacting revenge against a vampire faction that betrayed her during the last film, "Underworld: Awakening." This time, the threat against her and her daughter will become a lot more serious with more and more vampires learning that sucking their blood could help them transform into Vampire-Corvinus hybrids.

The upcoming film will also show Selene and her daughter getting help from David (Theo James) and Thomas (Charles Dance), as the group attempts to finally bring an end to the war between the Lycans and vampires, a war that has been going on for the longest time. But in the process, Selene will see herself risking her life like never before.

Meanwhile, Empire recently released new photos of Beckinsale in action during the filming of "Underworld: Blood Wars." See the photos below via the publication's Twitter account:
