The highly anticipated horror game from Supermassive Games finally has an official release date.

On Tuesday, the game developer announced the final release date of the interactive horror survival game that was first announced at the Gamescom back in 2012. It was initially intended to be released for the PlayStation 3 as a PlayStation Move title, but Supermassive decided to reintroduce the game for PlayStation 4 instead.

Aside from the release date, the game developer also unveiled a new trailer for the single-player game where the creepy graphics can be seen.

Pete Samuels, executive producer at Supermassive Games, also announced via PlayStation.Blog that another celebrity has lent his voice to give life to one of the game's characters.

I'm also really thrilled to reveal a new cast member that you'll be seeing in Until Dawn – Peter Stormare, who you might recognise from Prison Break, The Big Lebowski and (more recently) Arrow! He gave some incredibly powerful performances in the motion capture studio and you can tell from the end result in the game that he had some fun with the character. We couldn't be happier to have him in the games and I can't wait for you to see him in full flow."

The game focuses on the misadventures of eight teenagers comprised of Sam (Hayden Panettiere), Jessica (Meaghan Martin), Josh (Rami Malek), Emily (Nichole Bloom), Mike (Brett Dalton), Ashley (Galadriel Stineman), Matt (Jordan Fisher), and Chris (Noah Fleiss), who decide to spend the night in a log cabin during the night of the first year anniversary of the mysterious disappearance of their friend Hannah (Ella Lentini). None of them knew that they are being hunted by a mad serial killer.

Players who will place their pre-orders for the game will soon receive a special bonus scene for free.

"This exclusive scene sees Matt and Emily, a new couple, out on the mountain – but it's not long until they start to suspect they aren't alone," the game studio said.

"Until Dawn" will be launched exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in North America on Aug. 25, while European countries will get it on Aug. 26.
