Cody Walker finally landed his first major film role after initially coming in as a stand-in for his late brother Paul Walker in "Furious 7." According to a report from Deadline, Cody is in the cast of the upcoming Mario Van Peebles and Nicholas Cage film "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage."  

The report confirms that this is the first film that he will be starring in. "USS Indianapolis" tells the story of a U.S. battleship that delivered important components for the completion of Little Boy, the atomic bomb that dropped on Hiroshima and effectively ended World War II. 

This delivery was the last mission by the USS Indianapolis as it was later hit by torpedoes from a Japanese submarine. The ship sank in just 12 minutes. According to a report from Cinema Blend, 896 of the ship's 1,196 crew spent three and a half days in the open water, suffering from dehydration, hunger, hypothermia, and shark attacks. Only 317 survived.

At this point, the studios have not yet given any details regarding Cody's role in the film but he will be acting alongside veteran Nicholas Cage, who plays Captain Charles McVay. According to the report, McVay was eventually court-martialed for "failing to implement evasive maneuvers" during the attack. 

Cody is a trained paramedic and was a brand manager for Paul's charity foundation. He first hit the spotlight when he and his elder sibling Caleb worked with the cast and crew of "Furious 7" in order to finish Paul's scenes in the film. Afterwards, Cody announced that he would continue and pursue a career in acting.  It is expected that he will star in "Fast & Furious 8" as a new character but until that happens, "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage" will be listed as his first major film role. 

"USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage" is currently scheduled to be released on May 30, 2016.
