"The Vampire Diaries" is back with a brand new season, and a few weeks before the premiere, The CW has released a new trailer which sees Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) dealing with the arrival of the Heretics in Mystic Falls.

In the trailer, an agitated Damon asks Stefan if he would like to explain who is staying with them in their house. Stefan tells him that the deal has been made with their mother, Lily, and her blood-thirsty group called The Heretics.

"We don't mess with them, they don't mess with us," Stefan tells his brother.

Caroline asks if they are making a huge mistake handing over Mystic Falls to "a bunch of supernatural terrorists."

"Yeah, probably," Stefan says.

Lily is heard saying that Mystic Falls is theirs now, and so is any human who steps inside of it. Damon says that their mother is a lunatic, and later, Lily calls Stefan and offers him some motherly advice, telling him to run.

Caroline is seen getting tortured, and the Heretics wreak havoc all over town. In an attempt to thwart the group's plans, Stefan asks someone to teach him how to make a bomb.

"About how long do we have before this evil engulfs the world?" Damon says on the phone. "Just trying to plan my week."

It looks like Damon and Stefan will have their hands full dealing with the Heretics this season, and the brothers will have to face off against their new enemies together.

In a new interview with TVLine, new cast member Elizabeth Blackmore, who plays Heretic Valerie, gave an insight into the new additions to the cast.

"There's some funny adjustment at first," Blackmore said of the Heretics. "They're waking up 100 years in the future where there are iPhones, computers and all that — but there's also some darkness going on."

Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" premieres on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
