"Vampyr" is coming out of the shadows and into the spotlight, as the developers of the game have announced that the release date has been set for June.

Developer Dontnod Entertainment and publisher Focus Home Interactive have revealed that their upcoming game "Vampyr" will be out on June 5 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Microsoft Windows. This was after the game has been teased on YouTube several times with a series of short developer diaries. Now the fans' patience has paid off as well as the dedication of the development team.

It should be noted that these guys are the same developers for the hit game "Life is Strange" that has spawned quite a good following and some iterations on the side.

"Vampyr," however, is set to be different from the slice-of-life roleplaying game "Life is Strange" and it will be about Dr. Jonathan Reid, a former soldier and medical doctor cursed with vampirism. The game will also take place in 1918 London where players will try to cope with the character's growing need for fresh blood and the citizens of the city, where the choice of letting them live or die falls on the player's hands.

The game will be similar in gameplay and style to "Dishonored," which is a stealth-action game set in a steampunk game world not unlike early 1900s London. The developers admitted that they specifically chose this era since it was such a period of dramatic cultural change and a time when a vampire could perhaps secretly find a safe place to live alongside mortals.

Being a vampire also does not mean that players will have to keep killing innocent civilians just to feed Reid, and they will be given a choice to not harm anyone in-game, though how Reid and the players will find substitutes remains to be seen. Players will soon find out if they can resist the urge to feast on humans once "Vampyr" gets released on the aforementioned date of June 6.
