Tom Holland may grace "Venom" after all, but not in the Spidey suit.

It was initially rumored that the 21-year-old "Spider-Man" actor will appear in the spin-off, only to be debunked with Marvel President Kevin Feige insisting the movie is not a part of his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This week, Holland's cameo rumors surfaced once more, with Collider's Jon Schnepp saying " Spider-Man is gonna be in Venom." However, fans now received some clarifications on his claims, primarily that the actor will appear only as Peter Parker and not the web-slinging superhero.

Speaking on the site's Heroes podcast, Schnepp said Holland worked for at least two days on the set of "Venom" to make his cameo possible, but during those days, he did not once suit up as Spider-Man.

"Tom Holland was on set filming scenes on Venom for at least two days as Peter Parker," Schnepp explained. "I'm not saying that Spider-Man is in the film. When I say that 'Tom Holland's Spider-Man is in the film,' I'm saying 'Peter Parker is in the film.' This is a cameo."

He went on to call out those who assume Spidey's cameo will not work because "Venom" will be R-rated as there has been no confirmation of its rating yet at this point. Even with this clarification, though, it is still unclear how Peter Parker fits into the narrative. As Screen Rant notes, "Venom" is set in San Francisco, which is on the opposite side of the country where Spider-Man's hometown of Queens, New York is.

Then again, Schnepp's statement is by no means any confirmation, so it should still be taken with a healthy grain of salt.

Starring Tom Hardy in the lead role, "Venom" will be based on the "Lethal Protector" comic book series. As reported previously, it follows Eddie Brock moving to San Francisco and being hunted by the organization Life Foundation for the symbiote.

The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer and also stars Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, and Michelle Williams. "Venom" is currently in production for an Oct. 5 release.
