'Vikings' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Harbard returns to 'create more chaos'

Ragnar and his troupe of Norsemen will be busy raiding Paris in the fourth season of "Vikings," which means that affairs at home will be the least of their worries.

However, actor Kevin Durand's confirmation that his character Harbard the Wanderer will return means that Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) should also keep his eyes on his belongings in Kattegat, particularly his wife Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).

In "Vikings" season 3, Aslaug became highly intrigued with the charming wanderer, and she eventually slept with him behind her husband's back. His sudden visit to Ragnar's kingdom also caused Siggy's (Jessalyn Gilsig) death.

The Canadian actor revealed his return to the historical fiction drama during the recently wrapped-up SDCC 2015. He said that he already filmed some of his scenes for the upcoming season, and he will fly to Ireland again to finish his remaining scenes which are meant to "create more chaos" in the already messy family life of the King of Denmark.

Speculations claim that Harbard will be seen in Kattegat again since his affair with Ragnar's queen bore a child, and he will assist Aslaug in her surprising interest to become more powerful after the Seer (John Kavanagh) claimed that a woman will take over Ragnar's throne as the ruler of Kattegat.

There are also rumors claiming that Harbard will be the one to cure Ragnar's wounds that he acquired during their Parisian attack.

Meanwhile, actors Peter Franzén and Jasper Pääkkönen are joining the cast of "Vikings" season 4 as Norwegian warriors who will challenge Ragnar as his quest for larger territory deepens. They will portray the roles of King Harald Finehair and his brother Halfdan the Black, respectively.

Ragnar is also having a new woman in his life, as confirmed by Fimmel during the Comic-Con 2015.

"A very talented actress. We've been working a lot lately. I think it's going to be a unique relationship," the actor shared.

While he did not mention names, speculations claim that actress Dianne Doan will portray the role of the King of Denmark's new lover.

"Vikings" season 4 is slated to air in the first half of 2016.
