The all-too-dismal and embarrassing defeat of the Vikings will have its devastating repercussions for Ragnar in "Vikings" season 4, episode 8, titled "Portage."

After Rollo and his French army slaughtered the Vikings in the last episode, almost everyone, including Ragnar's own son Bjorn, blames their king for the loss.

Another individual convinced it is no one's fault but Ragnar is Harald. In the "Vikings" season 4, episode 8 promo, the king blamed their "failure" on Ragnar. From the looks of it, he will use this failure to his advantage to put his plans to oust him in motion.

As Harald talks trash about Ragnar, Lagertha does not lose hope for Ragnar, at least not yet. Hearing Harald blame him in the "Vikings" season 4, episode 8 sneak peek makes her furious.

Ragnar himself isn't ready to give up yet. The synopsis for "Vikings" season 4, episode 8 teases that as his men prepare to move out, Ragnar lays out an "ingenious plan." However, with his addiction to Yidu's so-called medicine, he may not be in the best shape to fight.

However, as Ragnar attempts to assemble the Vikings once again, Rollo realizes that they have to come after Ragnar himself this time, as hinted in the "Vikings" season 4 promo.

When it comes to his brother, defeat means death and until Ragnar is alive, there is no true victory for Rollo's camp. This shows that Rollo is prepared to do anything for Paris, even if it means killing his own brother.

Meanwhile, "Vikings" season 4, episode 8 will also see leadership shakeups involving Kwenthrith, whose position as queen was taken away by King Ecbert.

Kwenthrith is not at all thrilled about the news. The "Vikings" season 4 promo even suggests it threw her off her rocker. This pushed Kwenthrith to threaten King Ecbert by putting a knife to his throat.
