'Vikings' season 4 episode 11 air date, spoilers: Clive Standen confirms Rollo's return

Rollo versus Ragnar History Channel

After rumors about Clive Standen's possible exit from "Vikings" surfaced on different news sites, the actor confirmed that he has no plans of leaving his role as Rollo in the critically acclaimed historical drama series.

In an interview with Digital Spy, the actor shared that he will keep his role as the traitorous brother of the Vikings leader Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) even if he has been cast to play the lead role in NBC's new show "Taken."

According to the actor, working for two shows in different locations is a "happy problem" that he is willing to have.

"I'm going to be doing Taken until October time and I'm going to pick up and re-join the Vikings team later on in season five. I'm going straight from Toronto back to Dublin, so it's a good problem to have!" the actor added.

Standen's character Rollo was last seen when the Vikings, led by his brother Ragnar, raided Paris once again. But the Vikings lost to the Parisians, which helped Rollo earn the respect of his wife Gisla (Morgane Polanski) and her father, Emperor Charles (Lothaire Bluteau). But it does not mean that fans will no longer see Rollo and the Parisians in the second half of season 4.

Speaking with TVInsider, series creator Michael Hirst revealed his plans for Rollo when the series returns for season 4B.

"We do see Rollo again, absolutely. He's too good to lose. Of course, it is true that the defeat in Paris did mark an ending," Hirst said. "There's no doubt that that's the end of one part of the story, and it's the beginning of a new part of the story. But it's all part of the same saga."

The series will also return with a significant time jump after the failed raid in Paris. In season 4 episode 11, Ragnar's sons will be all grown-up and will fight over who should replace their father on the throne.

The History Channel is expected to air the midseason premiere episode of "Vikings" season 4 sometime this July.
