"Vikings" season 4 will be making its way back to the History Channel by the end of the month, and it looks like there's going to be a lot of changes when the critically acclaimed historical drama series returns.

According to a report by Carter Matt, there are a lot of reasons for fans to be excited about the second half of "Vikings" season 4. Not only will the series come in with a time jump, but it looks like "Vikings" will return with significant changes in a few of the show's well-liked characters, especially in Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) crippled son, Ivar the Boneless, the older version of which is being played by Alex Hogh Andersen.

Last week, the History Channel released a clip from season 4 of the series in the official "Vikings" Facebook page, and in it viewers get to see Andersen explaining his character's growth and his motivation as he grows older.

"He's all by himself, and he's left by the only one he really needed: his father. So when Ragnar returns that's a huge step for him," Anderson elaborates.

"When we see him when he's older, he's a formidable character," creator and executive producer Micheal Hirst also explains in the clip. "And he's compensated for not being able to walk. He's very, very clever. He works things out, he fights in his head. So he's going to be a great military strategist," he adds.

It turns out that it can be extremely hard to be a cripple in a viking village, and to compensate for that, Ivar constantly trains and elevates himself above others. Not only is Ivar strong, but he's also exceptionally intelligent. Because of his disability, Ivar constantly tries to prove himself in the series and eventually tries to fight his way to the throne.

"Vikings" is set to return on Nov. 30 on the History Channel.
