Travis Fimmel confirmed that his character Ragnar Lothbrok will no longer be the same when "Vikings" returns for the second half of season 4.

In an interview with Boston Herald, the Australian actor revealed that the King of Denmark is not like what he used to be.

"Ragnar's definitely changed as he's gotten older. He begins as a farmer and works his way to being a king. And then it's not what he expected it to be, you know? There's a lot of sacrifices you have to make to be the boss," the actor said.

In the midseason finale, a strange Ragnar returned to Kattegat from his long absence to challenge his grown-up sons to kill him. However, it remains unclear who among his sons will step up to his challenge and steal his title as the King of Denmark.

Meanwhile, fans are also looking forward to seeing the return of Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) in the second half of the season. In the midseason finale, Ragnar's first wife was wounded in the chest during their siege in Paris.

According to series creator Michael Hirst, Lagertha is not yet done in the series since she is one of the most important characters on the show.

"She is the soul of the show and I need her," the series creator said in an interview with TV Guide.

"She's also gone on this amazing female journey in which she's gone from farmer's wife [who's] happily married with kids, to being betrayed, to being in an abusive relationship, to having power, to having power taken away from her by men, to having to fight her way back, to having to lose her baby again," Hirst added.

History Channel is still keeping the release date of the second half of "Vikings" season 4 a secret, but it is expected to premiere this summer.
