The fourth season of the popular History channel show "Vikings" has been released with more focus on the story of Ragnar Lothbrok and his companions who accompanied him in the battle against his brother. According to ChattSportsNet, the mid-season finale got shellshocked viewers panicking as the Queen got brutally stabbed in her chest while the Paris siege was ongoing. However, apparently the showrunner, Michael Hirst, has different plans in mind, since they reportedly cannot kill her just yet. The character is too integral to the story, and there are too many fans who are emotionally invested in her staying alive. Hirst even tells a fansite that he received a warning from some of her feminist fans a couple of years ago.

However, while the focus is definitely on Lagertha, this doesn't mean that Ragnar Lothbrok is already out of the picture. His character is still too connected to the storyline's main message that they cannot afford to kill him off either. CrossMap reports that his character will remain alive for season four, denying all the other rumors that suggest he might meet his end mid-season. On the other hand, he won't be the great man that he was once before- his previous glory gone, and his only purpose to mold the thoughts in his sons' young minds and instill in them the yearning to conquer the West.

Vine Report also mentions that Travis Fimmel, who plays Ragnar, is going to be in the new "Warcraft" movie, and that there are definite dissimilarities with the characters that he has played. He says, "Ragnar's definitely changed as he's gotten older. He begins as a farmer and works his way to being a king. And then it's not what he expected it to be, you know? There's a lot of sacrifices you have to make to be the boss."

On the other hand, with Ragnar slowly desintegrating from the picture, he has created a vacuum of power- one that both Lagertha and Aslaug are both desperately fighting to control. At the end of season four, we will find out who will win the throne. According to Movie News Guide, the second half of the fourth season will have Lagertha and Ragnar doing makeovers due to character age. The premiere is set to be out sometime in July of this year.
