The fourth season of Vikings promises to be interesting and will kick off with a time jump. Such was actually already revealed after last season's finale where Ragnar Lothbrok learned that Fioki killed his friend Athelstan.

But did Ragnar really learn only know? Creator Michael Hirst, through an interview with Hitflix, did tease that Ragnar did know that Fioki did kill his close friend but did nothing. On why he did not resort to anything remains to be seen and such could be a twist awaiting to be unraveled.

After that celebrated raid of Paris, Hirst goes on to bare that the Vikings would be visiting other places. The list includes Iceland, Greenland, Ireland and the Mediterranean. On how this all turns out in connection with the planned time jump remains to be seen.

Aside from the plots that Hirst plans for the series, there will be reportedly three new characters inserted in Season 4. The new faces include Peter Franzen, Jasper Paakkonen and Dianne Doan, all of whom are said to be new regulars.

Franzen will take on the role of King Harald Finehair, a Scandinavian Warrior who is seen as a new threat to Ragnar.

Paakkonen will play Halfdan the Black, the younger brother of Finehair whilke Doan will portray Yidu, someone who will reportedly carry a big role in the upcoming season.

Now while the new characters (and threats) may seem to be something to look forward to, Vikings followers may recall that Ragnar is not exactly in fine predicament as far as his health is concerned. Ragnar continues to teeter between life and death so it remains to be seen how Ragnar could survive (or not) this dilemma.

All this and expectedly more await the followers of Vikings, the next season of which is expected to be out by 2016.
