American actor Vin Diesel has been reported to have another comic book movie adaptation project in the pipeline. Diesel would be playing the comic book character Bloodshot, who is a resurrected super soldier. If this deal pushes through, this would be the third comic book to movie adaptation that Diesel will be a part of after "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "The Chronicles of Riddick."

As reported by The Wrap, the comic book "Bloodshot" is a product of Valiant Comics and was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992. Sony approached Diesel to play the titular role, and revealed that "Bloodshot" is part of the five movies from the Valiant Comics universe that they intend to make for the future.

If the deal is successful, Diesel will be working again with "Fast and the Furious" producer Neal Moritz -- who is slated to produce "Bloodshot" as well. 

Movies such as "Deadpool" and "Logan" have already proven that it is possible to make a very profitable comic book to film adaptation even if it is given an R-rating. It appears that Sony intends to follow in the footsteps of the aforementioned movies, which means that "Bloodshot" can be expected to be a more violent film compared to most of its contemporaries, and will be taking some elements from the genre of science-fiction.

Sony seems to really want Diesel for the titular role, but it is also considering other actors to take on the role if Diesel decides to turn it down. The other actors that Sony is interested in casting are Mark Wahlberg, Oscar Isaac, and Jared Leto. These other actors are quite known for their acting chops, and are popular enough to generate enough interest to get Sony's five movie franchise going. 

Details of the project itself are still scarce, but Sony is aiming to release "Bloodshot" by next year.
