"Voltron: Legendary Defender's" short third season is a blessing in disguise. Fans of the animated series felt a little shortchanged when season 3 only had seven episodes. Now, Netflix is set to release the fourth season earlier than anticipated.

The show's executive producer, Joaquim Dos Santos, said that Netflix's plan was to give as many "Voltron" episodes more often. With season 3's seven episodes and the fourth season's six episodes, it seems like the streaming giant just split up what was supposed to be the actual third season into two chunks.

Dos Santos and co-executive produce Lauren Montgomery stated that season 3's finale is not as grand as the previous season so the fourth season's premiere will not pick up after a major cliffhanger.

There's still no information on whether future seasons will follow the same format or if it will go back to its original format of 13 episodes per season.

Netflix has released the story details for the upcoming season: "With Shiro back at the Castleship, Keith makes a choice that causes a rift between him and Team Voltron. As Alura and team focus on building the Voltron Coalition, Prince Lotor's plans start to take shape."

The streaming giant also dropped a trailer for the upcoming season.

Aside from this, several storylines were hinted at to gain more steam like Pidge's search for her brother as well as the Paladins undergoing some birthing pains with the changes in leadership as some of them are not ready to take on the role.

The Galra Empire will also have tension brewing among their ranks as Emperor Zarkon and Prince Lotor will go head-to-head on how the evil kingdom should proceed in going up against Team Voltron.

"Voltron: Legendary Defender" season 4 comes out on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 13.
