'The Walking Dead' mini-series video game featuring Michonne currently under works

Telltale Games

The tough, katana-bearing member of Rick Grimes' group in Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" franchise is getting her own video game soon.

As part of the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015, game developer Telltale Games announced early this week that a new installment in "The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series" is being developed, and it will center on the adventures of Michonne. The new game titled "The Walking Dead: Michonne - A Telltale Games Mini-Series" will focus on the character's untold journey during her departure from the comic book series between the issues #126 and #139.

The studio is creating a three-episode mini-series that will explain why Michonne decided to leave Rick's group and head out to the open sea, and what made her decide to come back.

In the announcement uploaded on YouTube, Kirkman explained how the upcoming mini-series will help shed light on the mysterious character's persona.

"In many ways, Michonne herself is a reflection of the world of The Walking Dead. She is brutal and cold on the outside, but deep beneath what is broken, she remains hopeful, trying to claw her way out of the darkness that surrounds her. In our effort to bring the world of the comic and the world of the Telltale series closer together, there is no greater character than Michonne to help bridge that gap," Kirkman said.

The announcement revealed that "The Walking Dead: Michonne - A Telltale Games Mini-Series" will come out this fall in multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC/ Mac, as well as Android and iOS devices. It was also mentioned that those who are interested in getting the game will need to have at least the first episode of "The Walking Dead: Season Two" first.

However, Telltale Games did not mention if Danai Gurira, the actress who portrays the role of Michonne in AMC's TV adaptation of "The Walking Dead," will lend her voice to the video game.
