Some things were left unsaid in the first five seasons of AMC's hit post-apocalyptic series "The Walking Dead," but fans will no longer be left in the dark. Series showrunner Scott M. Gimple recently revealed some of the things that fans should look forward to when the series returns this October.

In a recent interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Gimple said that "The Walking Dead" season 6 will feature some of the earlier story arcs that were included in the comics but where not yet discussed in their TV adaptation. 

"I think there's a really cool aspect to the first half of the season that serves almost as a prequel to some direct comic stuff in the second half of the season," Gimple said.

This could mean that the upcoming season will be the closest one to the original comic series written by Robert Kirkman, since the first five seasons incorporated several twists all throughout the episodes to make it slightly different from the comics. 

"I think there's a way that Robert did some of the story that we're reaching that had a real past to it, where people are referring to some things in the past in the comic. And we're able to portray some of that backstory in some ways that you didn't get to see in the comic," the showrunner added. 

However, the exact plots in the comics that the series creators will bring to the TV adaptation were not elaborated during the interview. 

Gimple also mentioned that there is a possibility of seeing a developing love interest between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Alexandria Safe Zone resident Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge), after he shot her abusive husband back in season 5. 

Meanwhile, a previews interview with actor Norman Reedus began worrying fans about his character Daryl's fate in the series, which they believe is pertaining to his possible death in season 6. 

"The Walking Dead" season 6 will air its premiere episode sometime in October.
