'The Walking Dead' season 6 spoilers: Michael Rooker spotted on set, could be for Daryl's death scene

Michael Rooker as Merle DixonAMC

According to The Spoiling Dead, Michael Rooker, the actor who portrayed the character Merle Dixon in "The Walking Dead," was recently seen on the set of the show's sixth season. There were also reports that Tyler James Williams was there but this was later debunked on the same Facebook page.

A report from iDigital Times states that Rooker could have been there not to shoot scenes but to simply visit the set to check on friends and see how the show is developing. However, if in case he was there to film a few sequences, the report cites that he may be involved in a flashback.

Showrunner Scott Gimple revealed during the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con panel for "The Walking Dead," as reported by /Film, that season 6 would be full of flashbacks.

"There will be a whole lot of flashbacks in the first half of this season," Gimple explained during the panel. "I'm working on an entire episode that is a flashback."

One thing of note is the importance of flashbacks in the show. While a flashback episode might be done to showcase what happened to Morgan (Lennie James) while he was still following Rick (Andrew Lincoln), it may also focus on the lives of the main cast prior to the zombie apocalypse.

However, flashbacks in season 5 were used to a far different degree. Beth (Emily Kinney) appeared as a hallucination during the sequence where Tyrese (Chad L. Coleman) died. It is possible that Merle will appear in a flashback or hallucination scene if Daryl (Norman Reedus) dies this season.

Daryl Dixon is one of the characters that is not from Robert Kirkman's comic book series and his future is a mystery to all. Given how popular the character is, many speculate that he will not die until the very last season. However, "The Walking Dead" is known for killing off major characters, thus Daryl's fate remains a mystery to all.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 premieres on Oct. 11.
