"The Walking Dead" has just aired its season 5 finale and already, people are speculating when season 6 will be released. According to iDigital Times, the next season will most likely launch on Oct. 11. 

This is because the show has followed a very recognizable pattern ever since it first aired. As reported by Den of Geek, "The Walking Dead" has consistently aired its new seasons on the second Sunday of October since season 3. It has also been noted that the season premiere is always scheduled to coincide with the weekend of the New York Comic-Con. 

The 2015 New York Comic-Con is scheduled for Oct. 8 to 11. This would suggest that the sixth season of "The Walking Dead" would air its first episode on Sunday, Oct. 11. Should it come to pass, it would be the earliest that a season of the show would be released.  

Season 5 ended with the residents of the Alexandria Safe-Zone realizing that Rick and his group are the right people to take charge and govern them since they know exactly what it takes to survive in a zombie-infested world. The season finale also gave a glimpse at the Wolves, said to be the next antagonists in the show. 

Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, told The Hollywood Reporter that the Wolves are akin to "a bunch of Daryls gone south."

Meanwhile, showrunner Scott Gimple stated during an interview with "The Talking Dead," "Season 6 for a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat. At the start of our next season, that will change. I said the show reinvents itself every 8 eps, and we're doing it again, friendos." 

With season 6 expected to be released in October, AMC will be launching the new spin-off show "Fear the Walking Dead" in summer. The new show will focus on a new set of characters in a new location and even reveal the early days of the zombie outbreak before moving up its timeline to coincide with "The Walking Dead."
