"Warframe" players may want to hold their breaths, as Digital Extremes, developer of the co-op science fiction (sci-fi) shooter, has just announced that it has set a goal to release the game's newest expansion sooner than expected.

Digital Extremes specified that it announced a "goal" rather than a "guarantee" that "Plains of Eidolon," the newest expansion for "Warframe," will be released within the next 10 days. The announcement was made on Oct. 3, placing the tentative release date of "Plains of Eidolon" at Oct. 13. Along with the announcement, the map of Eidolon was also revealed, showing the scaled-down nine square kilometers of playable open-world area.

The open-world of Eidolon is also set to become a locale for the quest for the new Warframe called "The Quest for Gara." Gara is a glass-themed Warframe whose powers and abilities involve shooting out high-velocity projectiles made of shattered glass and confusing and toying with enemies using mirrors. However, the quest to obtain Gara will likely be delayed by about a week after the release of "Plains of Eidolon."

The delay was due to a scheduling conflict with one of the actors for the game. Digital Extremes assured players that despite the delay, Warframe Gara is now ready and will be available in the in-game market for those who want to purchase the Warframe instead of acquiring it through a quest.

"Plains of Eidolon" for "Warframe" is a huge step in the game's development and gameplay aspect since it features a game space which is in stark contrast to the usual procedurally-generated corridors and spacecrafts of the game. With the introduction of the open world space of Eidolon, players can choose to forgo the small and instantly generated maps of "Warframe" used to level up and, instead, explore the new open-world. It should be noted that each instance of Eidolon can still only support up to four players, much like the co-op structure of the previous small maps.

If the developers are able to meet their goal, "Plains of Eidolon" will be released on Oct. 13.
