'Watch Dogs 2' release date news: Sequel to have a 'no-kill' gameplay

The original "Watch Dogs" has missions where main character Aiden Pearce has no choice but to fight his way through. For the sequel, though, Ubisoft has confirmed that a "no-kill" path is possible.

According to "Watch Dogs 2" senior producer Dominic Guay, a "no-kill" playthrough is possible in the sequel. Answering a fan query, Guay said, "It was important to us that players are free in the style they want to play. So play stealth, play non-lethal, play guns blazing, explosive and guns, or play full hacking. It's up to you to decide how you're going to play."

For this, the creative team has even setup a dedicated developer whose task is to complete the game as stealthily as possible, without shooting or killing the bad guys. The team member also has a dual purpose – to check out bugs and issues in the game preventing a zero-kill gameplay, so that the entire creative team can fix them prior to launch.

Meanwhile, the Q&A also confirmed that although the sequel also has set missions for both single campaign and co-op play, the entire story is set for single players. Guay added that, "We didn't think the co-op fitted well with the narrative nature of some of our missions." Instead of integrating the multiplayer content on the story, co-op missions are structured and designed specifically for co-op plays.

"Watch Dogs 2" is set a few years after the events in the original game. Instead of another revenge story for Aiden Pearce, the sequel is focused more on hacking activities of main character Marcus Holloway, and his ties to hacktivist group Dedsec. "Watch Dogs 2" is also set in San Francisco, instead of the original Chicago setting from the first game.

"Watch Dogs 2" is set to release on Nov. 15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
