'Wayward Pines' season 2 renewed or cancelled? Season 2 happening or not?

Will "Wayward Pines" have a second season or not?

Apparently, this is the question going around these days ever since the first season of the TV series from FOX came to a close.

"Wayward Pines" initially drew criticism from viewers that the series was somehow similar to another series, "Twin Peaks," but all of that died down as the show next episodes aired. As it turned out, "Wayward Pines" was pretty much different with some even saying that it proved to be even better than "Twin Peaks."

Seeing the similarities of the two shows was brought about by the fact that they both had similar tones. But in the long run, the show garnered better attention, reaching the point of being something that comes close to perhaps the "Twilight Zone" series of old.

With that said, many are keeping close tabs on whether or not a second season is in the midst. Well, that would all depend on how executive producer Chad Hodge would go about it.

Hodge has reiterated that "Wayward Pines" was originally shown as a mini-series, something that was supposed to air just 10 episodes. But with the success that it has garnered, a season 2 may likely happen.

Chances are in the event that season 2 happens, a new set of characters could be in play. But then again and for those who were able to catch the season 1 finale, the ending wasn't exactly something that was settled.

For those who missed that, Ethan (Matt Dillon) sacrificed his life to save the town from a monster invasion. His son fell into a coma and when he came round, he found the town being run by kids his age.

Could season 2 pickup from that and then create a whole new storyline?

FOX has not made anything official as far as a second season of the series, which was based on the novel by Blake Crouch, is concerned. But if the rumors continue, don't be surprised to hear an announcement from Fox pretty soon.
