The season finale of Fox's hit series "Wayward Pines" will see the Abbies swarming into town and unleashing terror while Ethan (Matt Dillon) and the rest try their best to stay alive.

In "Cycle," Hollywood Hills reports that Dr. Pilcher's (Toby Jones) choice to turn off the electricity will have deadly results. The Abbies can now get inside the fence and proceed with their human-eating spree. Ethan and Kate (Carla Gugino), however, will do their best to make sure that everyone is safe while the first generation will try to defend the residents by taking matters into their own hands. Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo) will also be seen confronting Pilcher and will try to convince him to reverse his decision.

Last episode, Ethan tried to blow the whistle on the scientist's nefarious activities in front of the entire town. He set up an assembly under the pretense of reckoning Kate. Instead of killing his ex-lover, he attempted to reveal the town's secret. Pilcher then did the unexpected and turn off all the lights, rendering the fence protecting Wayward Pines useless.

In the promo, viewers will see the sheriff loading up guns and asking Kate if she is ready to take on the Abbies. As the doors open, the carnage is all around the town as the Abbies kill and eat people left and right. A great number of the residents will die. Amid the chaos, Nurse Pam will be begging her brother to shut down the gates. Kate will be severely injured, while Ethan will be seen crashing a door open and pointing his gun at someone. Could it be Dr. Pilcher?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer Chad Hodge revealed what is to happen to the show's season ender. It appears that the theme of the finale would be everyone getting what they "paid for."

"David Pilcher saved the last of humanity and brought them 2,000 years into the future. He gave his life for this. It was a massively costly endeavor. When you rise to those highest of heights there is often nowhere to go but down," he teased.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Fox is considering a second season for "Wayward Pines," but without its original cast members Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino and Melissa Leo. The network has yet to comment on the said speculation.
