WEA International Director Concludes East Asia Tour

Geoff Tunnicliffe, International Director of the World Evangelical Alliance, returned to Canada Sunday after completing his trip to East Asia.

The trip to East Asia began in Thailand on 7 May, when Tunnicliffe met with the leaders of the Evangelical Alliance regarding its preparations for the General Assembly 2008.

The tour then continued to Korea on 8 May, where Tunnicliffe met with South Korea's top Christian leaders in an effort to unite and build partnerships between the WEA and the churches in South Korea, home to some of world's largest congregations.

Three main Christian organisations exchanged greetings and collaboration proposals with the WEA - the Christian Council of Korea , the Korean Evangelical Fellowship, and the Korea National Council of Churches.

In all of these meetings, Tunnicliffe met and conversed with key representatives about their ministries. They also exchanged views on the world evangelical movement and touched on global issues such as poverty and Aids.

The conversations resulted in an agreement to continue to develop the unity and collaboration between the WEA and the Korean Christian bodies.

Each of the meetings was attended by Dr David Jang who serves as a member of the WEA's North American Council.
