God TV's Wendy Alec speaks: 'We had a good marriage but the Devil got in'
Wendy Alec, the co-founder of GOD TV, has given a moving live testimony on the network explaining her heartbreak after her husband left her for another woman.
In the broadcast, Wendy, close to tears, said her two children, Samantha and Christian, had been with her as she got ready for the broadcast.
She said her message was "for all the girls out there" and explained she had been married for 27 years. "We had a marriage like most of you." It was good, with 70 per cent good and probably 30 per cent not so good.
Under the strap line, "keep calm and carry on", she told viewers: "I really want you all to know those who love God TV that right from the beginning, the cornerstone of God TV as this prophetic ministry is our Lord Jesus Christ."
She said God had spoken to her to tell her to call the channel God TV. "As hurtful as painful as devastating as this situation is, God is still God.... He knew before the beginning of time that we would face this day."
She said: "I've never had an affair. We do not own two private jets. We do not have a house in London." She added: "We had a good marriage.... ministry marriages, we all have such spiritual warfare, but genuinely we had a good ministry marriage, we really did."
Last December, they had an "amazing" family Christmas, she said. Then in January, Rory had "the most incredible encounter" with the Father. She said he had known Rory since he was 18 and had never before seen him have such a spiritual encounter.
"He would be worshipping God in his room and come out blowing the shofar."
She said he had experienced abandonment and bullying as a child and had suffered with an "orphan spirit in his soul".
After January, he went to South Africa and they talked or Skyped every night. Then in March, he came back to the house. "I looked at him and something had changed. I thought, 'oh my God, what is happening'. He was in the bathroom and said, 'I'm going... you've got no right to ask questions I'm just going. He said I need space, I need to find my identity and I need space.'
"My whole world turned upside down. The next morning he just went."
She asked him if there was another woman and initially he said there was not, and that his only mistress was the autobahn in Germany.
"We just wanted Rory to get counselling but he just wasn't in a position where he could receive any counselling, any ministry."
In mid-August, she found out he had been having an affair with a divorcee in Austria. "The devil got in very very easily," she said. She described the woman as a musician and jazz singer who had asked Rory, himself a musician, to help her with her album. "You get in a music studio, it is one of the most seductive environments you can have," she said. "The princes of hell designed a perfect strategy to hook his soul in through that seductive Jezebel spirit."
Confronted with the affair, he said he would not be "controlled" and left the house. He did return to Plymouth a few weeks ago. But after news of the affair began to leak out on the internet, he decided he wanted to step aside. "He just didn't want to be in ministry any more," said Wendy, revealing that her husband wanted a new life and was currently staying on a farm in South Africa owned by his lover's family.
She was speaking from Jerusalem after Rory Alec announced he was leaving the Network, standing aside as Chairman and CEO with immediate effect, following what he termed "a moral failure" concerning his marriage.
Wendy Alec will continue to lead the Network along with its senior management team and the support of the GOD TV Board.
GOD TV will continue its international operations as well as the work it is doing in Plymouth, including the completion of its Revival Prayer Centre on Union Street and new staff building at Burrington Industrial Estate.
In a statement, Mr Alec told GOD TV staff: "After 20 years of service, I have had a moral failure this year. For this reason, I am stepping down. Please forgive me for the disappointment I've caused, but I know your eyes are on Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith and not on me, an imperfect man.
"It is with a heavy heart that I confirm my season with GOD TV is over for now."
Among the guests on the network today was Vicar of Baghdad Andrew White, currently in Jerusalem himself, who said: "One thing we are sure is that God has not finished with God TV.... that's why the devil doesn't like it. He will stop it and try and destroy it."
Bill Johnson, senior pastor, Bethel Church, Redding, California, mentioned repeatedly the need for financial support: "Now is the time to rally support, to pray together, to shout Amen, to help support financially.... this is an important time to advance, not retreat."
