Wendy Williams has criticized Fergie for her rendition of the national anthem.

On Sunday, Fergie had the honor of singing the "Star-Spangled Banner" at the NBA All-Star Game. Not everyone was a fan of her version, though, and many people took to social media to criticize her take on the classic song. Williams also commented on the performance on her daytime talk show, slamming the Black Eyed Peas member's singing chops.

 "There are only a few people who can sing raw dog, and Fergie is not one," Wendy shared on her show Tuesday. "She needs auto-tune. Jen Lopez needs auto-tune. Janet [Jackson] needs auto-tune. Beyoncé needs auto-tune."

Ahead of Williams' show, Fergie had already apologized for her national anthem performance.

 "I've always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA," the singer told TMZ of her jazzy, slowed-down version. "I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone."

She went on to explain, "I love this country and honestly tried my best."

BBC points out that this is not Fergie's first time to sing the U.S. national anthem in a public engagement. Back in 2009, she was invited to perform the "Star-Spangled Banner" at the White House's annual Easter Egg Roll. The performance was much more traditional compared to what she did at the All-Star game and attracted far less attention from viewers.

Carey was asked about Fergie's performance and she said the mother of one should not listen to what the haters have to say. "Darling, nobody needs to listen to that," the pop diva said while on her way out of a Los Angeles restaurant.

Last September, Fergie released her comeback album "Double Dutchess."
