'Wentworth' season 5 spoilers, news: Even cast is unaware of next plot

"Wentworth" season 4 ended with a shocking finale when Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) was suddenly stabbed to death. Speaking to Stuff, actress Kate Jenkins revealed that even the cast members and other people behind the series are in the dark regarding what direction the series is heading next.

Jenkins, who plays Bea's love interest Allie, revealed that even when she was auditioning for the role the only information shared was that Allie was written to be Bea's love interest and there were only vague clues as to what direction the show would take for them to get together and how far their relationship would go.

The actress then shared that the cast members have no idea where season 5 is going to go in terms of its characters and plot because they are only given scripts on a weekly basis, as the season enters production.

"From week to week we have no idea what is going to happen in the series. We've all been given a trajectory of what our character is going to do but along the way anything can happen. We read those scripts really not knowing what's going to happen," she explained.

This mirrors a statement previously made by executive producer Jo Porter in an interview with News.au where Porter explained that it was a part of their duty to keep audiences guessing and to be excited for new possibilities for the future seasons.

Porter had also confirmed that new inmates would be arriving in season 5 and this may lead to additional main characters and new drama when "Wentworth" season 5 premieres.

No official release date for season 5 has yet been announced although a report from FX News Call points out that the series has consistently prmeiered in Spring every year, hinting that "Wentworth" season 5 is most likely going to premiere by April or May 2017.
