If there's something that fans can't count on in "Wentworth" season 5, it is Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) surviving that horrific attack in the previous season.

Fans can no longer expect that Bea got out of there alive as executive producer Jo Porter herself emphasized that the character did not make it in an interview with News.com.

Her death was all along a creative decision (and an "incredibly difficult" one at that) to put the spotlight on other characters in "Wentworth" season 5.

Cormack will appear in another crime drama titled "Deep Water." She will play the role of protagonist Brenda Lopez. The show is set to premiere later this year.

It is unknown if her connection there contributed to the exit of her character in "Wentworth." But as Porter suggested, it was more of a creative direction that will allow them to tell the stories of other characters.

This suggests that Cormack was not set to leave the series, but her character's fate was merely part of the story that the series is trying to tell and continue in "Wentworth" season 5.

It remains to be seen which of these characters will take center stage in the new season, but it looks like Allie (Kate Jenkinson) getting a second chance at life means that she will be seen a lot more in the new season.

The show also promised that the exit of Bea and the story that will follow will be handled carefully in "Wentworth" season 5.

"While the shoes of Bea Smith will be hard to fill, with the start of season five the gates of Wentworth Correctional Facility will again open to a raft of potential new stories and characters," a statement picked up by News.com read.

That being said, fans can hope that while Bea will no longer be in "Wentworth" season 5, the show will still be as compelling and bold as it was.

"Wentworth" season 5 is slated to premiere May 2017.
