The fifth season of the Australian television drama "Wentworth" is getting more intense as ever when someone's attempt to escape from prison leads to deadly consequences.

In the previous episode titled "Loose Ends," inmate Doreen (Shareena Clanton) applied for transfer to Western Australia, Liz (Celia Ireland) tried to get in touch with Don (Steve Bastoni) as she was waiting for him to rescue her from the perjury charge, but all her attempts at calling him went to voicemail; Joan (Pamela Rabe) proposed to handle the drug trade in the prison facility, while Franky (Nicola da Silva) and Allie (Kate Jenkinson) grew much closer despite the former planning her escape.

Sonia (Sigrid Thornton), on the other hand, was enjoying the life of freedom. However, it appears that the happiness she feels from freedom will be soon cut short as the gravity of her crimes start to become evident. She will be back in the next episode, as teased in the sneak peek for season 5 episode 5 titled "Belly of the Beast."

How will her presence affect the story?

The episode synopsis released by Foxtel also says that Franky's escape plan could have deadly consequences. What could possibly happen? Liz is also said to take "drastic measures to protect herself" in the upcoming episode since Sonia is back and Don is on stress leave.

Talking to television network Foxtel, Thornton who plays Sonia revealed that "there is probably a level of cruel enjoyment that Sonia gets from her relationship with Liz." She added, "Sonia enjoys that [relationship] because it gives her something to do. Sonia being back at Wentworth sets up a whole new story strand."

No other spoilers for season 5 episode 5 are available as of the current, but life in the prison has become more unforgiving as ever after Bea's (Danielle Cormack) death last season, so there is definitely more to look forward to in the coming episodes.

"Wentworth" airs Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. AEST on Showcase. Viewers outside Australia may also watch the series on streaming service Netflix.
