What was the first thing Ben Seewald ever asked Jessa Duggar?

When Ben and Jessa Seewald from 19 Kids and Counting first met, Ben was an awkward young boy who struggled to find the right words to say to the girl he had a crush on.

Ben revealed in the Seewald Family Blog the story of how he and Jessa met, and recalled the first thing he and his wife ever talked about. "Jessa and I met at her church while on a mini vacation in Northwest Arkansas. Jessa's family was really friendly and invited us to a conference just a few days later, offering to help us out, ride with them, or whatever," he shared.

The Duggar girls even offered to help babysit the Seewald kids when they heard Ben's dad would not be able to come. As Ben's mum mulled this offer with the Duggars, Ben went up to Jessa and tried to make small conversation.

"Jessa and I only exchanged a few words our first meeting. 'Is that an iPhone?' said I. 'Yeah, but it's a really old one,' she said. I didn't want to say too much and make a fool of myself or look like I was wild about her (though I was on the inside)," admitted Ben.

When they left, Ben pleaded with his mum to go to the conference. He even offered to pay for gas money if he had to, and he eventually got his wish. Ben formed a friendship with Jessa's brothers Josiah and Joseph during that conference, and he talked to her father Jim Bob and got his number.

Ben was really pumped because he got to talk more with Jessa, and they really hit it off. "I talked to her Dad about getting her number not long afterwards and we began to text - a group text though...nothing romantic yet," he said.

After getting to know each other better, Ben finally asked if they could begin a courtship relationship, and Jessa said yes. They courted for 11 months until they got engaged and married on November 1, 2014.
