What Christians can expect in Heaven

The Bible tells us that heaven is a beautiful place, far more beautiful than any place on earth. The thought of going there after all the toil and struggle of earthly life should at least excite us and give us a great hope.

But what will it be like when we get there? Many have tried to depict heaven, but nothing could ever describe it as accurately as the word of God does.

And so we will take a quick look at what we can expect in heaven. Here are a few things to note and get excited for:

1) There won't be any suffering anymore

The Bible tells us that in heaven, we won't suffer anymore. Revelation 21:4 tells us of the time when all of God's people are already with Him,

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

2) There are no thieves in heaven

Security is a very big thing on earth. We protect our possessions and hide our money in safe places where we believe they will be safe. We lock our doors, set up safety passwords, and even invest in safes.

Still, the most skillful of thieves can steal what many of us kept safe. If thieves won't be able to steal them, they either get destroyed by natural processes such as decomposition or by being eaten by rust or animals.

In heaven, none of this ever happens.

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:19-20)

3) There's 24/7 praise and worship

If you like singing to God in praise and worship, then you're going to love heaven because there's non-stop praise and worship there. Revelation 4:8-11 tells us that all of heaven does this:

"The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

"Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!"

Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

"You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.""

Many more

There are many more things to expect when we get there, all of them in the Bible. It would take several articles to talk about all of them at length, but to summarize everything it would be this from Revelation:

"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever."
