The daughter of late American singer Whitney Houston has been found unresponsive in a bathtub today.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, was found unconscious in the bathtub by her husband Nick Gordon and friend, who immediately started resuscitating her before emergency crew arrived at the scene.

Brown was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia, and is said to be breathing. However, she remains in intensive care.

Brown's spokeswoman Lisa Holland confirmed to CNN: "They called 911, started CPR on her, and police arrived first. We took over the lifesaving measures until the fire/rescue and an ambulance arrived. "

The incident happened less than two weeks before the third anniversary of Brown's mother Whitney Houston's death. The award-winning singer was found dead in a bathtub Feb. 11, 2012.

It is not clear why Brown fell unconscious in the tub and the incident is under investigation.

Houston died at the age of 48 after struggling with cocaine and other drugs for years. She was found with a dozen prescription drug bottles in the hotel suite where she was found dead. Her death was concluded as accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine being listed as factors for her death.

Bobbi Kristina announced last May that she is going to follow her mother's path in music.

"Think about it.. She had 1babygirl, lungs and a GORGEOUS unforgettable voice.. Who do you think ONLY has HER vocal chords..?" she posted on Twitter.

Life has seen some huge changes for Bobbi Kristina in the last few years. She was just 18 when her mother and last year she announced her marriage to Nick Gordon, who was cared for by Whitney as a child.

Their union was controversial because of their close childhood connection, but Bobbi Kristina has always defended it as the two are not biological brother and sister, and Gordon was never formally adopted by Houston.
